Ep91 Faulty Temp Gauge

hi, got a 1996 Starlet Glanza V Auto (EP91), my engine temp gauge seems to be faulty? sometimes it works.. sometimes it just sits in the starting position for the whole time, anyone had this problem? or know how to sort it? cheers
