Currently working above the snow line in australia and having trouble starting a 1990 diesel 2.4ltre surf . Ive tried waiting for 10 secs after the clow plugs heat but no start. It takes till mid morning till It fires. any additives or tricks to get it going. No under cover parking . cheers bear

Whip in a new set of glow plugs, its an easy enough job on that engine.

Using products like easy start shouldn`t really be necessery and only used as a last resort.

No don`t pour water over the plugs (electric & water never mix).

The 2.4d is normally an excellent starter so I wonder if the fault is elsewere in the starting system or your compressions are low or maybe even a leaking head gasket.
