Water/coolant Pump

My main dealer has advised that the water pump has corroded, is leaking, and needs replacing. This is after 42000 miles in just over 3 years. At £460 (mainly labour) this is quite a hit. Any comments, similar experiences etc.? Its a T180 2.2DM.

hi Stevish,

I have Tspirit, 2.2, so belive engine is similar - also car age is similar... I had the pump done at 70k, and was told they do go sometimes. I did notice before that that the car lost a small amount of coolant. I do not know about the price as it was done under warenty.

Regards
