Braking Noise On Downhill

I have been getting a fairly loud dull clunk/creaky sounding noise when releasing the footbrake on the downhill from a still position. Does anyone know if this is a normal occurence - I've had it for some time now & was wondering if it is something I need to get sorted as my warranty runs out in March 2011.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try the same thing but using the handbrake instead of the footbrake. If it still creaks, it's probably your rear brakeshoes being slow to release. Lots of my cars have done this it at some point and it's not serious. If it worries you, take the drums off and give the shoes etc a clean out. Don't breath the dust, it's nasty stuff.

Hi, I might be wrong but if its the noise your describing and I'm thinking of it will be the pad and disc friction with weight of vehicle moving the car slightly, if you release the brake just enough for the car to move but not enough for the pads to release fully from the disc itself you will get the noise, because the pad is still in contact with the disc, the clunk and then a grown, its not peculiar to the Toyota you can do it with almost any vehicle.
