Hi all thanks for all the assist with the Torque settings that was great and so swift.toast.gif

Well here we are all put together as taken apart but the cps was moved in the process.wacko.gif

I have a great spark and it would appear that petrol but only a whiff.

I thought that the Cam positioning sensor was out ,on trying to look it up all i seam to get is mark it before taking it apart (to Late is the cry) I think I have set it right but perhaps I am wrong .

This is what I have done.

1

set timing at 10 btdc

2 set up the alignment marks of the CPS ( notch with hole in the shaft, then slotted in with the securing bolt hole in the centre of the elongated adjusting hole)

With this done

Question , Should the point of the CPS be in line with the top sensor?

I have tried the same setting of the CPS with engine at TDC

I have also tried it just past the sensor at both 10 BTDC and at TDC

can any body tell me what I am doing wrong?

Please ......

I need to get my car back

I am having withdrawal symptoms.

Which stroke is it on when you set it to TDC? It will either be on exhaust or compression, so the cam will be in a different position.

It's set on the compression stroke

It's set on the compression stroke

Can you shed any light on the position of the Cps when on TDC or 10o before TDC

toast.gifThe beast is alive !!!!

at long last I was able to get back to the red headache I unwrapped the covers and went back to basics then low and behold I spotted all the trouble It was me! yep My Fault no one else to blame for this foopa.

What had I done?

Well having the camshaft with the sprockets removed I then went and built them up in the same position (I know what a plonker) well it was a simple case of re setting the exhaust camshaft, building it all back up and brummm before going to bed .

Oh the joy!!!!!

It is running a little lumpy but that should be an easy fix

I set the timing on TDC

Is that right or should it be 12o BTDC?

Hi !

I've had trouble with my cps and explored various avenues, and all is now well. Have you resolved the problem by now, perhaps you no longer have the car ? Do you have the workshop manual RM027E ? Generally invaluable !

Regards, Wicked64.

Hi there

I am having a similar problem also. My supra, 7mgte engine was rebuilt after the head gasket blew.

Now, the car starts but its very sluggish and not as it was.

So, i have to back track and get the problem sorted.

Can anyone help me with the ignition leads?

I need to know what the lead sequence is from the ignition module... example...

1 2 3 4 5 6 = ignition coil from top view

1 2 3 4 5 6 = spark plugs...

can anyone tell me what the spark lead sequence is from the ignition coil to the spark plugs..... ie example does ignition coil 1 have alead going to spark plug 3 etc..

I would really appreciate this information

Thanks
