Fog Lights

HI, just been down to the scrap yard and got a set of front fog lights for my carina 1.8 auto. Now, the wires and plugs are there and even the wires for the switch are there. Because the car was not fitted with them from the factory i am having trouble getting them to work. I have plugged everything in correctly. There is power to the switch but no power to the lamps, all the fuses are ok and the book says there should be a relay but its not inside the car and it's not in the main fuse box and i think this is the problem however, any other suggestions will be very useful.

Hi,

Are you sure that you have voltage at the switch? The switch is mounted after the front foglight relay. That means that if you have voltage at the switch you also must have the relay. That must mean that the wires from the relay to the foglights are broken, or not connected. From the relay it should be a red/white wire that change to a green/white wire (rh lamp and continue to the left side withe a red/white wire. This is according to the diagrams in Haynes. It was some years I was thinking about getting some old foglights for my Carina and I can't remember the colour of the wires.
