1.0 Vvti Engine Failure

Good Evening all,

New member seeking some advice on the 1.0 VVTi engine if there are any Toyota mechanics about,

I have recently developed a very noisey top end rattle at first I thought it may be the water pump as I found this to be worn out, old design prior to modification to aluminium.

However removing the drive belt and running the engine for a short period without the belt to elimit the pump noise did not cure the noise.

It sounds like timing chain or valve gear are there any known issues with this engine as hoping to get some out of warranty help as car has only done 30k and serviced regulary.

Does any one know how oil is fed to the inlet cam variable acutator is it via an oilway or pipe ? as I know toyota have a proplem on some vvti engine with rubber pipes.

Sorry to say mine rolled out Slovenia with a Citoen Badge but its all i could afford no good asking the PSA boys as its a daihatsu / toyota engine.

Any help greatly apreciated as need to argue my case with dealer.

Many Thanks

Zeberdy

If it is a Citroen, surely you need to speak to Citroen U.K. about this. Their mechanics will be familiar with this Toyota/Citroen/Peugeot 1.00 vvti motor.
