Looks like Lea Wood will not be part of the Speedwork Toyota Team this year, he will be running his Vectra in the jack Sears Throphy Class (S2000).

Round 3 Thruxton, the fastest track the Btcc goes to so the turbo motors got to stretch there legs. Adam Morgan was able to carry on scoring points. The other Toyota drivers didn't really make great gains on there points tally.

Next round is at Oulton park 8/6.

Frank Wrathel points 28 championship pos 13th

Adam Morgan points 85 championship pos 7th

Dave Newsham points 42 championship pos 12th

Ollie Jackson points 6 championship pos 21st

Great racing again from the championship role on round 4.

So it's been an interesting year in the BTCC for the Toyota's most of them are down at the back of the grid but there was one good hope in the form of Tom Ingram with his Speedworks Avensis.

Tom managed to keep bringing the Avensis home in the top 10 which was great considering the teams he was up against highly funded and with top paid drivers.

Hopefully the car will be developed more and will one day get the Toyota back on the podium.

Hi All

If anyone follows the BTCC in the UK to keep a eye on the Toyotas this year its already going very well for one of the driver called Tom Ingram and his Avensis, as he has managed to steer the old girl to a fair few podiums now this year already and lies 6th overall in the championship.

Its a shame Toyota wont have a factory backed team.

Here's a few pics on the cars from Croft UK in June 2016.

After this weekends race at Snetterton full of door handle to door handle racing which was great to watch.

It was another good weekend for the Toyota's which was great to see.

The best been Rob Austin is P3 in race 3 and Tom Ingram P6 in race 1.

Overall in the drivers championship standing Tom is in 7th Place.

Another smashing round at Knockhill in Scotland the Toyota's didn't have a bad weekend but then didn't have a good weekend either, as the track is better for the rear wheel drive cars like the BMW's.

I don't think there was a straight panel left on any of the Toyota's after the weekend with them battling so hard.

Best again was Tom again with a P4 in race 1 and Rob Austin getting a P6 in race 3.

This now leaves Tom Ingram P10 overall in the drivers championship and his team Speedworks Motorsport 2nd overall in the Independents Cup.

Rockingham came and went in a lot of rain and the racing was just a bad.

The Toyota's all finishing well down the field apart from Jake Hill that grabbed a 8th place in race three.

The weekend is best forgotten for the Toyota clan and move on to Silverstone on the 17th & 18th September.

This leaves Tom Ingram in 11th place in the driver standings now and Speedworks Motorsport still 2nd in the Independents Cup.

Silverstone race 17th & 18th September'16, was another great race weekend bumper to bumper, door handle to door handle.

It was a really good 3 races and action all the way down the field and with being a Toyota fan some good finishes for the Toyota teams.

Tom from Speedworks did the best taking 1st in race 1 and 3rd in race 2 and Rob from Handy motorsport taking 3rd in race 1.

In the drivers championship for Independents Tom is in 4th and Rob is in 5th and for the their teams Speedworks are in 2nd and Handy Motorsport are in 7th.

Last Round will be at Brands Hatch on the 1st & 2nd October'16.

Where are this year gone and what will I do with no more BTCC until next March'17.

I'll still have the F1 and WRC tho until then.

Well ! That's it for 2016 with Gordon Shedden winning the drivers title for 3rd time with Honda Racing.

It was great end to the season as the title was decided in the last round in race 3 and you cant get closer than that and all through the day the title was swinging from driver to driver and again each driver was not giving an inch to each other.

If you can watch the replay or on catch up tv it's worth watching.

For our Toyota's and was a so so end to the season as one of the Avensis's failed the ride height checks on the Saturday and was put to the back of the grid for race 1.

Our man Rob Austin for Handy Motorsport was the best picking up 2nd in race one and Tom for Speedworks finishing 6th in race three.

The drivers Rob and Tom finished 5th & 4th in the Independents Drivers Championship and for the Independents Team Championship Speedworks finished 3rd and Handy Motorsport finished 4th.

Not the best season again for the Avensis and Toyota but its still one of the fastest cars on its day hopefully a bit more development through the off season will put them even more up the sharpend of the grid. It was great to see new cars and manufactures and drivers and a full grid in the Championship for 2016 its UK's best racing series and maybe even the hardest to win.

Role on 2017.

Hi Everyone

So we had 2 events now and again I can only sing the praises of the BTCC, with a full grid again for each event is amazing.

The 2 Toyota teams Speedworks and Handy Motorsport have got the Avensis singing even better that before.

As it stands we have Speedworks in 3rd and Handy in 11th place in the Teams Championship and the Drivers Championship Tom Ingram for SW leads overall and Rob for HM in 13th.

Speedworks and Tom also lead the way in the Independent Teams & Driver standing Awesome !!!

The new frontend on Toms Avensis looks the Dogs!!!!

Great for the BTCC even better for Toyota UK, and if we can take a win this year in both WRC and BTCC and WEC it would be mega for the Toyota Brand!!!!

Hi there, so Thruxton came and went event 3.

Again there was lots of talking point such is the track safe for the cars and drivers and there was a few big off's and driver taking each other off then trying to throttle each other lol.

Try catch the reply on IT4 when you can.

But again the best thing about the week end was that Tom from Speedworks motorsport came away with the lead extended in the overall drivers championship. Wonderful for Toyota on the whole and Speedworks and Tom!!.

Standings wise:

Independents Drivers and Teams

1st Tom with Speedworks

4th Rob with Handy Motorsport.

Overall Championships Drivers and Teams:

1st Tom Ingram

9th Rob Austin

3rd Speedworks

8th Hand Motorsport

Next up is 21st May Oulton Park.

Now then, Late update as I have been away getting Married and getting ready to move my whole life from Middlesbrough in the Northeast to Derbyshire in late August and working on my Sprint car so not much time free at the moment.

So Oulton Park and Croft came and went event 4 & 5.

Again there was lots of talking point such as 3 driver put in Hospital following a really bad crash at Croft during qualifying, but thanks to my local Hospital of James Cook all the drivers are on the mend and hopefully back on track soon.

Try catch the replay on ITV4 or on their download service if you can.

But again the best thing about the weekends was that Tom from Speedworks motorsport came away with the lead extended in the overall drivers championship. Wonderful for Toyota on the whole and Speedworks (Toyota)  and Tom, but also Rob Austin from Handy Motorsport (Toyota) has reduced the points gap to 3 points.

Standings wise:

Independents Drivers and Teams

1st Tom with Speedworks Motorsport in 2nd place

2nd Rob with Handy Motorsport in 4th place

Overall Championships Drivers and Teams:

5th Tom Ingram

8th Rob Austin

4th Speedworks Motorsport

7th Handy Motorsport

Next up is 30th July Snetterton.

Hi All, been away for a while as moving home/job and across from Middlesbrough to Derbyshire to live in the countryside 👍.

Well the season is over for another year and it was a great year for the BTCC again with you Ash Sutton taking the overall drivers title but for us Toyota fans got a victory from our young Tom Ingram and Speedworks Motorsport taking the Independent drivers & teams championship and also finished 3rd overall in the drivers championship. Greats to see Toyota Badge wining in the BTCC. For 2018 tho it's looking like that there will be only 1 Toyota on the grid next year which will be a shame, I'm hoping to be wrong but I'm not sure.

Roll on 2018.

Hi  @Ant182

Steve, do you not think that the Avensis is the wrong car for the BTCC? Too heavy and it puts it back on the grid with the Audis in my opinion.  Now then a BTCC Auris or Yaris with some beans under the bonnet could be interesting.

I totally agree with you, roll on next year and ITV4!  .....For the F1 fans, give it a go and see some real racing!
