why do my toyota landcruiser colorado loses power sometimes whilst driving.

its a 2000 automatic diesel.

what happens is i,m driving in town when it suddenly dies (engine don,t stall)

but i have to put gas pedal to the floor for it to pick speed very slowly.(i have no kick down when this happens.)

It feels like its in the wrong gear but it is not).when i come to stop it,s like it resets itself and its ok.

it does this sometimes quite frequently but then it stops doing it for a while.

It has also sometimes dose it when i,ve gone to pull away from a standing start & also whilst i,ve been driving 50-70mph.

have you heard of this one before? i hope so

yours stumped

hello DARREN

please describe how the engine is started at cool condition?? what are your observations?

whether or not it vibrates? the possible reasons of this issue are, as follows:

- fuel filter partly blocked;

- SCV solenoid valves are about to die;

- engine air filter clogging;

- poor injection quality;

- EGR vallve partly clogged by carbon.

In case of poor injection quality is available -- then you will observe vibration of engine.

Start investigate what is yours and come back. Cheers/Igor
