got the Battery tray welded up and then made up a Battery clamp for it out of a piece of angle section + welds + grinding.

The Battery is way way smaller than the standard one and quite a big weight saving too.

it's the Battery tray that is more difficult to make, well it took me a while anyway. I'll get a pic of it before I paint it.

Thats a good looking tray

Thanks very much!

If you want one fabbing up, I can do that. I now have the measurements just supply the material and away we go.

I don't get it?

He means your an engineering genius :)

What he said ^^

I've always wanted to do the service and minor bits and bobs on my own car myself, but never got round to buying trolley jacks etc even though I've inquired about the prices a number of times. I was just saying that for you do be doing this all at home yourself it's really amazing work!

Dude you should so what I do when it comes to getting tools to do the work "Dad... you know you need this Valve Spring Compressor for you 2005 perfectly working CTS too!"

Or just whack the cars into the machine and hope the best. That's my Plan B and hasn't let me down just yet

this weeks update.

I got the fuel pump system apart and removed the pump

Then bought some nylon convoluted hose and used that to make up a new assembly with a high flow pump

Here's the finished article, I still need to get some viton o rings but other than that and a melted tube it is ready for installation

No photo for me either. They're hosted on http://1.2.3.11 that's not a local server to you is it NRG? Cos that would mean the pics would load for you not for us :(

Fine for me :P

Interesting work mate I've always wanted to know what the inner workings of the Fuel Pumps looked liked. I guess it's nice to see what you pay your £££ for when you need something replaced.

Can't wait to see this all when it's done! :D

When do you estimate you'll finish it, or will it be a true petrol heads hobby and never finish? Lol

The reason why it takes me so long to do this, is I only do one or two things at a time and then drive around with those modifications to see if I get any problems. That way I know what I tinkered with has caused a fault.

A good example of this would be the fuel pump. My brand spanking new walbro pump has basically died with 3 minutes of use. It was making a funny noise from day one but suddenly it just stopped and now it is fubared. I've ordered a replacement so hopefully that will be here soon.

I think I should be heading to the tuners in 3-4 weeks.

This fuel pump and a wiring loom are the last major hurdles.
