Charcoal Canister

Hi All,

Does the fuel EVAP Charcoal Canister need to be changed on a regular service basis ?

Have seen one small mention in the Toyota handbook that it should be replaced every 2 years, yet the previous owners 2 year service receipt from Toyota does not list the part as being renewed ?

The Haynes manual does show how to replace it but no mention of when in their Maintenace Schedule section ?

Not sounding silly, but what is a EVAP Charcoal Canister???

Sounds something like the air pollen filter, but with a fancy name, but then i could be totally wrong

when the fuel evaporates out of the tank the charcoal canister "catches" it. I'm not sure if modern cars still have this.
