Removing Rear Interior Panels For Pdr

Hi All

I have been lurking here for a few months having got an Aygo 2 months ago. However some careless **** has decided to add a dent to it by thoughtlessly opening a door onto it :ffs:

Now the dent is quite shallow, but very noticable, about the same height as the door handle but on the B pillar. It is a 3 door car. Now it is not exactly on the B pillar but very very close and subsequently cannot be accessed from behind. I have been told by a PDR technician the only way is to drill a small hole, which I am definately not keen on.

Does anyone know if removing the rear interior panels, you would be able access this area from behind, and if so, how easy it?

My second question is: the manual states the car will only start with the clutch pedal depressed as a safety feature. Now I always do this, but thought I would test it. However my car starts even without the clutch depressed. Is this a fault? or a mistake in the manual. Do other owners find the same? The car is a 59 plate facelift Aygo, so I can mention this at its first service due soon.

Oh I do have one further question! the air recirculation slider seems very loose to me. I know it notches in place either end, but if I dont do that it seems to slide about. I cant see this happening of course, it is not that loose, but after a few journeys it ends up in a different place.

Thanks people!

You could try someone like this for the removal of dents.............I used them on a previous Yaris to remove a nasty dent on the bonnet which could not be reached from behind.

They are franchised but will have an operator near you

Welcome,

The car can start without the clutch pressed. They just recommend you use the clutch when starting but I never do.

With Air recirculation you really only need it either on or off so their is no need to have the switch in the middle. Most posh cars have a buttong for this but the Aygo is more mechanical I guess.

Hope your pleased with the car and have no leaks.

Depressing the clutch on a manual car is an old trick based on the theory that years ago engines were so heavy that if you pressed the clutch as you started the car there was no extra weight on the engine/starter and the starter motor and Battery would last longer...

Whether it's still necessary I don't know, but once you have the habit it's a bugger to break!!!

Thanks for the replies, they are appriciated.

Can't figure out the multiquote  I will look for a FAQ.

I agree not pressing the clutch is a hard habit to break. As for the air re-circ it was just annoying to have to 'slot' it into the notch. Not all 'posher' cars have this. I had a Citroen C2 VTS on an 07 plate before this and that had a slider!

As for the car, yes am pleased and I have hosed it and found no leaks, just some small amount of condensation on the spare wheel and perhaps 2-4 ml of water on the rim. Hope that is not indicative of something. I may try to tighten the rear lights as they seem a little loose.

Any ideas on the trim removal?

It's always a good idea to depress the clutch when starting a car. As pointed out by Jan&tone, it not only reduces wear on the starter motor and Battery but if you ever leave the car in gear by mistake, it will prevent the car jumping backwards or forwards. Which could either cause an expensive accident or worse still injure someone.

Have a look at the AIM for installing rear speakers in the OLD cars HERE Page 9 shows the 3dr.

Yes thanks, I had already found that, and it did not appear to be that clear on how to remove them. I will have anonther look though.

The panel is "popped" onto the metal with several fasteners.

If you pry your fingers in between the seams you should be able to lever the panel off.

You might want to start at the bottom, next to the seat cushion, or if you have the door seal off,

start there: that's a nice big gap to get your fingers into. Don't use tools: they'll only do damage...
