weight reduction and traction (or right foot) control

Suspension mods make a huge difference.

Listen to that man! Sod 0-60 - Going everywhere sideways is more fun. B)

Ross, how did you time your run? What octane fuel are you using? Any possibility of a video clip? :D

I do that a lot, hitting roundabout at 45 MPH, but today I was going 18MPH and the car still lost it, Is going sidewards bad for the car?

And RWD will launch better as the weight shift will be over the driven wheels .. unlike FWD where you'll wheel spin or feed the power on gradually ..

Sounds like you need to learn how to drive FWD mate .. and going sideways is only a problem for air flow and tyres (Evo's have a Intercooler spray for when you are going sideways, as the airflow over the IC will be less - how cool is that!!)

Going sideways is only bad for the car if there is a wall in the way

Seriously though, sideways in a FWD car is not difficult to master, I used to do it when rallying - a little left foot braking and steer to the exit (not necessarily into the skid) and bob's your uncle.

I still sometimes do it in the Avensis (it's a remarkably evenly balanced car) but I'm going to have to firm up the suspension a bit... once past a certain critical point the back end whips out a bit violently :(

Can relate to that - Me and Bibbs have our engines back there too :D

Understeeeeeeeeer... WOOOOOOSH back end tries to overtake rather suddenly.

RWD - Loads more fun, without torque steer

Sorry, I'll shut up now. Just messing.
