Hi All

Just bought an 96 l/w/b Rav4 as a run around for the winter (Highlands Scotland) and am curious!! Did they ever make an "Abarth" tuned model or has someone just stuck some badges on this one, must say she is nice to drive.

regards

Welcome to the forum.

i guess you have a 5 door version???

The first series RAv4 was pretty nippy -especially the 3 door. I don't think I've heard of a tuned version - in that the UK models all had the 3SFE engine running at 127bhp.

Yes it's a 5 door, Red with black trim, split 5 spoke alloys and most things like elec windows, sunroof, mirrors etc

So far so good but still intrested to find out if the "Abarth" badge's are fact or fiction

Cheers

Cant say ive heard of Abarth with Toyota at all - thats more of an Italian tuner Fiat and the likes of.

If its tuned may get TTE (Toyota Team Europe) or more likely (at the time of the 4.1's), TRD (Toyota Racing Development) for the Rav4's.

Hi Smiler

Thanks for that as i say just curious, thought it was a bit odd, as you say more of an Italian thing the Abarth.

But at the end of the day its not a bad motor for it's age tuned or not.

Tho saying that did they not have a go at the corolla many years ago?

if its the 3sfe engine, theres not a lot you can do with that unless its primed with nitrous. Never seen mention of abarth on a RAV version ever. But then the 3sgte swap i did had only been done 3 or 4 times before in other parts of the world. Some more been done since.
