Hi everyone.

The name's Georgie. I'm originally from Oldham but currently living in the Scottish Borders. My family have owned an import Toyota Surf for a good few years now and I myself had a '95 RAV4 which my father actually sold last week. :( Although I do not have my full UK driving licence yet due to well... stuff, long story; (I'm nearly 24 ffs) I'm actually looking into buying an early 2000's Celica as my first proper main car.

I guess some people think I'm mad for wanting one with remarks like "Oh the insurance will be sky high!" or "You're a tiny woman, it'll be too big for you!" I don't see why these are problems at all. I mean I'm pretty sure there are people in the world that own cars where the running cost is astronomical but aren't phased by it as they have a car they love and adore. Am I right? I don't know about anyone else but wouldn't you rather have a car you liked and would look after and keep for a long time rather than changing it every few years?

Ugh anyway, sorry for the drawn out monologuing. But it is something I'm passionate about. I love cars and Toyota's have been my fave for many many years now. And if you haven't gathered by now, I'm not very keen on people telling me I can't do something. Haha!

Anyway, look forward to talking to you all. I hope I can learn as much as possible here! :)

Thanks a lot for the welcome guys! ^_^

And Kingo, I may be getting on to your lot in the near future. I WILL convert my dad to getting proper genuine parts instead of constantly buying well, crap.

Yes, I am a mammoth 5'3" and me mother is only 5'2" yet we drive the big Surf no problem. According to my father, it's far too big for us thus we cannot drive it properly. O_o

Hi and welcome.

as long as you can reach the controls properly and can see over the steering wheel, i cant see a problem.

insurance may not be too bad as your 24 so although your a new driver your out of the ' young and reckless' bracket.

look for insurers that specialise in young female drivers too as you can sometimes get a good deal.

Thanks for that! :)

Yeah I'm thinking about getting onto the insurer my father is with for the Surf, being an import an all. They're a specialist insurer and cover all-sorts so I guess it wouldn't hurt to see what they can offer first. Can only but try, shop about and see what comes out of it. :)
