Carina E Door Lock

Folks,

I'm after a replacement spring that's part of the drivers door lock assembly. My local dealership can only sell me the entire mechanism (at £241 + VAT)...which is a tad more than I wanted to pay for a spring (see attached image).

If anyone knows of where I can get one of these springs, I'd be grateful.

Cheers.. Paul

Many thanks for posting the picture of the spring, now I know exactly what I am looking for as I just got myself a second hand Carina with exactly the same fault.

Hi there,

First of all, thanks again for posting that picture, I also found that spring inside my drivers door. I am in the process of removing the lock assembly now. However, could anyone tell me a bit more about where that spring belongs exactly? That would make the detective work a bit easier.

Cheers,

Allard from Stavanger, Norway

I had the exact same problem, I found a suitable spring in one of the hundreds of boxes/jars etc..of bike/car bits I've hoarded over the last twenty odd years. Here's a picture of my mechanism. (Front passenger door, 1995 CarinaE)

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask for more info. I did a full report of this repair when I did it on the CarinaE Owners Club but when I tried to retreive it for you I found the site had closed down ! My estate door is now playing up,I'll have to investigate. :(

...Just to add to what I just said,

I think the spring may have been out of a drum brake?

A trip to any well stocked car accessory store should have what you need.

BTW: Shouldn't this be in the Carina section ?
