As stated above, how do you go about removing the front bumper of a Carina E?

Hi, just removed one off my dead carina.

Tools needed: 10mm socket and extension bar. Small and medium philips screwdriver and wd40.

1) Remove the front grille. Three screws and it just lifts off.

2) Remove both indicators, one screw on the top and it's very tight to get out but with enough persuasion they should just pop out.

3) with the indicators removed you should see a black round clip (one each side) push down on the centre and remove.

4) jack the car up and remove both wheels. On the under splash guard, remvove all the bolts, i think there is about ten.

5) You will also need to remove a couple of screws either side on the inner plastic wheel arch as there is a hidden bolt behind where the top of the bumper meets the bottom of the wing.

6) Remove the four bolts from the top middle of the bumper and you should be able to remove the bumper.

Good luck with it, if you get stuck don't hesitate to get back on the forum.

Thanks Trev, Thought that it would be a lot more involved than that.

Will be doing it in a few days - if I get a chance due to Christmas. Only reason to get it off is to fit an intercooler.

In my experience, all you need is a patch of black ice, inappropriate speed for the conditions, and a plastic bollard. ;)

Sounds about right, but wrt point 4, I found it wasn't necessary to jack the car up or take wheels off to get to the screws in the wheel arches. I don't remember if it was a shorty screwdriver I used or whether I was able to get to the screws/bolts by turning the steering to full lock.
