No theyre not, I work for IBM (north Harbour) and theyre called AS400 here!!

hmm amount of 3590 carts i've sent down there with MSD's on and never ever got one back !!! GIT !! you cost <frozen food> company a fair bit in tapes LOL !!! over the 6 years I worked for them.

Nice offices down there - I've had the tour a few years ago.. though Warwick is the nicest canteen !

anything above a 740 machine is called an iSeries now bud.. iseries 800, i810 i825 etc... i fix/install/design enough of them !

then again I've got better toys than most of the iSeries team in North Harbour !

(and we just acquired the northern iseries guru cos IBM decided to make him redundant - right after that they realised they then had no decent staff above north Harbour on iSeries ! der...) :P

Yeah, just joking yesterday, I have been informed that AS400 is NOW called iSeries but everyone in IBM still calls em AS400! I actually work for the Media dept (offsite though). dealing with 3590's etc so if your serious that your not gettin them back, maybe I could have a word. Do you use them on an offsite expiry storage basis?

best term i've heard for them was 'twin tubs' but that's back when i first started working with them about 9 years ago when they were still big beige frames.

Not too fussed about getting me tapes back now matey - long since left the place - I work for a business partner now..

Still it's nice to find someone who actually has heard of the systems I work on !
