BUTTT lol this bloody engine is doin my nut in now. anyway lol well the other day i built up had the block all torqued down and went to turn it over and it was way to tight to turn, so stirpped it down check few things everything looked fine. then decided to build it up with the original main bearings. soo built it up and it turned over and it was easy to turn over the way ot should be. iv checked the thickness of the bearings and its a couple tho thicker on the new bearings so am guessing that why its so tight, if you have it all torqued dowm and just loosen the mains just a quarter turn, the engine turns over fairly easy with the MWR bearings so i e-mailed monkey wrench today and they said take all the measurements of the crank and bearings ect and then grind down your block and crank and or the conrods ?? thats not how to fix it you need thinner bearings which i can get from toyota but thats not the point its going to be a high performance engine so i was wanting the uprated bearings for more protection has anyone else on hear fitted these or had any problems?? plus its a brand new block and con-rods so dont wanna be machinnign it downand the crankshaft has just been heattreated so dont wanna grind that down plus you dont wann be grindin the crankshaft down unless you have to due to damage. is there anyother uprated bearings for 2zz out there ? anyone lol . might just have to put standered bearings in :( they should be fine ... for a while lol saying that my mates type-r just made 618bhp on the dyno today lol

I think most people use the bog standard toyota bearings because they come in various sizes. You need to be bang on to use the MWR ones - and as you've found most aren't.

That sucks, but dude all my trouble has been with bearings and the companies supplying them! And I am just building a standard engine!!

I hope you can source something soon!

Toyota Bearings are tough as nails however I would be personally more comfortable with uprated bearings that actually fit

Let us know how you get on with them mate. Are they ACL's?

There mwr bearings but they must have coated them because when i ask companys for acl race bearings they say that acl dont supply race bearings for the.2zz only standered. Am away to hand my block into my machine ship nd see how much it will cost to grind the block down

Yeh she turns beautifully well now, really smooth with no rough spots or sudden resistance.

She should have a couple horses more than my previous motor, but I am still trying to figure out what to do next with it. I think I might have to start buying in for the Formula Atlantic engine i.e. cams, ECU and Springs etc.... the engine will no doubt be apart soon to do something to it and I may as well start accumulating parts :D

Looking rather sexy there scotty!

Tell you what you're challenging me for having the cleanest engine! I have to get myself into shape with this thing!

I should have some pictures of it in one piece tomorrow evening providing I don't get too drunk tonight..

don't forget the fuel system!! The corolla T sport fuel pump is totally different to the normal petrol one and is not good for much more than 240PS, you might max the injectors out.

Depending on how highly strung you are running this motor I would get a proper fail-safe system in place, two pumps should the other fail. Otherwise if you're giving it the beans and the pump goes, you'll lean out like nothing before and those piston tops will be a very different shape!:thumbsup:

That said if you are running low boost I would leave it, I am just fussy that way and would hate to see such time, money and effort go to waste!
