Boot Won't Open

Hi folks,

Can't open my boot door on my 5 door D4D 1.4. It's unlocking alright, but I don't think the handle is connected to the latch any more - whether it's snapped or come loose somehow I don't know.

Anyone had this before? Or know how to get at it? My local garage reckon it's a big job to take the panel off and they may have to break it to get to the handle mechanism. Does that sound right?

Sounds about right, They need to access the tailgate so need to remove the large plastic cover, You can replace that cover though and pick it up from a scrapyard any model from 2002-2006 will fit.

Wouldnt say its a big job easy way around it would be remove the plastic covers for changing number place bulbs, Use a dremel to cut through plastic as get to the mechanism open the boot from inside the car fix the latch, buy new tailgate plastic and clip it back on.
