i think if u get a mechine shop to lighten it, the wheel would be more suseptible to shattering into a million pieces in you r gearbox

Depends what the flywheel is made off...

For another car of mine, I lightened the flywheel myself. I mounted it true in a lathe and carefully reduced the weight from 7.5kgs to 5.5kgs whilst retaining sufficient strength.

I now have to send the flywheel off for balancing together with my crankshaft, nose pulley and clutch

TRD do one. I think WEPR also do one. Yes, they do - i just checked... http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/wepr/

Unless you know what you're doing lightening it yourself is a bad idea.

I think mine has a lightened flywheel in it but I'm not taking the ***** appart to find out for sure.

Many people from www.toyotaownersclub.com have bought from them. I haven't, but the correspondence has always been prompt and friendly.

I've just had a quick look at a standard 5E flywheel, and I'm not sure how safe it would be to lighten it without compromising its strength. The standard one appears to be cast iron.

A better way would be to have a flywheel made from steel with a ring gear shrunk on.
