Oxygen Sensor Lamda

Hi all,new on here so here goes.

I had an engine fault warning light and had it diagnosed. The fault code was 001,which my mechanic informed was the lamda needs replacing(oxygen sensor). He told me it is not an urgent problem and I can carry on driving with no problems for as long as I like.Is that good advice,or would you say it is something that needs seeing too straight away??He said the new part will be about 190 pounds, though i did find one on line for around half the price.I have a 1.6 vvti 2003/04.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that funky,4 years sounds good to me.By the way, what happened after the 4 years ? :D

The coolant system sprung a leak (unrelated to lambda sensor obviously), and I couldn't afford to run a 2.0 petrol any more.

Patched up with rad weld and traded in for a 59 plate Renault Megane 1.5 diesel.
