£1,200 doesn't sound too bad considering imo. Look towards the bottom of the main forum page as there is a link to an insurance company there....might be worth a try, other option is to take a look at some of the tuning mags as insurance companies advertise a lot in them for people with high performance cars/ young drivers etc

All you can really do is shop around the mainstream ones, then look to specialist insurers like Brentacre, Sky, Chris Knott and Adrian flux, and hope they can offer a decent cover at a sensible price.

Sadly, your age is against you, and so are the millions of people out there that want a fast car but won't pay for the insurance on them, and we foot the bill for it.

Little trick with Adrian flux I used to work for them and if you say you have done some mod to the car (cosmetic and not performance) the premium comes down a little bit, not huge amounts but a bit cause they take into consideration if you have spent money on a shiney new custom bumper or wheels youre less likely to drive like an idiot and slide it into a tree cause you dont wanna damage what you spent your hard earned cash on.. I assume they still work this way it's been about 2 years since I was there

I'm not sure if its still the same since the recent EU rulings, but if you add a female (mother, sister, girlfriend) to your policy, it could knock more money off providing they have a clean licence.

I added my GF the day before the ruling, and it knocked £30 off my premium. Better in my pocket than in theirs.

Cheers guys al give all this a try. The EU rulings wont come into place until dec 2012.

Best price I've had was off swiftcover at £1200 fully comp, I'm 23, 4 years no claims

Directline quoted me £1800 this year (that's £400 more than last year) and want a further £400 to protect my NCB, I cannot wait for them to send me an automatic renewal letter lol

I use all the comparison sites, then phone up the top 3 and haggle. it takes a bout a day but you can usually get them down a fair bit.

Agreed. I have the Compressor and mine is £400 fully comp with only 4 years NCD as I have made a claim (A very big one too!) Maybe its low as I am 31...?

My quote from RAC has actually gone up from last year; back over £1000 despite me now being 25 and having no claims. This is probably because I only took my test in 2008. Even so, it seems pretty high for a 10-year-old bog-standard 1.6. But looking at insuring this and other cars, Admiral seems to be the cheapest - about £200 cheaper than most big names on average. Whether this reflects the service I don't know as I've never used them. Oddly enough though, for the first year I was with Direct Line and Comprehensive insurance was much cheaper than Third Party! This is something to bear in mind since we normally (logically!) assume Third Party would be cheaper.

20 years old first insureance

I managed to get mine down from 1679 euro to 1320 but dont know if this will work for you. Found two brokers which were providing me with police from the same company, rang between them and they both bumped it down to 1320 and that was the lowest i could get it down to. So ended up with a good saving just by haggling with those brokers.

So if you wanna go that route try doing this with brokers.
