Yea if its not your driving style and nothing else like your tyre pressures are bogging you down then its your car... like I said before make sure your fuel line hasn't been vandalised .... would explain the shoddy MPG if your car is ****** fuel out everywhere!

Update of trying to get better MPG :

So far I broke my own record on the first bar before it went off at 135miles

I also broke my own record on the 2nd bar went off at 200miles!!!!

at the moment I done 241miles and hoping my 3rd bar lights won't go off before 270miles!!!!!

If I can managed to get 270 on 3rd bar then I still got 4th 5th and the last bar which I hoping hoping hoping to get around 400+ !!!

Keep my fingers crossed : )

OK I have just filled her up and this is what Fuelly and Road Trip have to say....

Fuelly

Date Miles Litres Price MPG

11/04/11 336.0 33.891 £1.36 45.1

Road Trip

Date Miles Litres Price MPG

11/04/11 336.0 33.891 £135.9 45.07

So basically the same from both apps. I guess I'm a little happier than I thought I was going to be. Hopefully things will get better with time :)

I think it is a real missed opportunity by Toyota not to give the Aygo stop-start like the iQ benefits from. It makes a double digit percentage difference in urban driving.

At the office, we have just passed back a couple of new shape Punto's with stop-start and the little 1.2 petrol engine went from 46 to 40mpg in urban work when you switched it off.

A decent Stop-Start system requires a different setup for the startermotor (usually combined with

the alternator/generator), which is more expensive. And the Aygo IS supposed to be a budget-car...

Using Start-Stop with a regular startermotor will cause premature wear and tear on the starter and Battery.

Those car got Start- stop technology will have a more advance starter and a specialist Battery so its work with this technology!

If normal car without this Start -Stop technology keep turning on and off the engine will kill off the Battery and the Starter!!!

I am really wonder what if Aygo came with as ( Aygo Hybrid )

Will be nice as Aygo Hybrid will be very eco

Yes mate. that's what you said I didn't read it right. apologize

By the way. sometime I do turn my engine off when I knew I won't able to move for a good few minutes to save Fuel.

Do you think its worth turning it off and on if not moving for good few minutes?

Yes I think it's worth it: I do the same myself... When idling the car uses about 0,8 liters per hour on average according to my ScanGauge.

If I do some (very) rough math with my onw cars economy in mind every 5 minutes of idle will cost you about a mile worth of fuel...

Electrics tend to cost fuel too, so don't turn the blower up higher than needed, switch off the rear defogger when the rear window

is allmost clear. And one thing I do myself: when I sit in a traffic jam at night I switch off the main beams: no need to brightly

illuminate the bumper of the car two meters in front of me. By keeping on the rest of the lights I'm still visible and can still

read my dails. As soon as traffic starts moving again I tunr the lights back on again, so I can see where I'm going...

I used to do that but then I got a warning from a copper! :!Removed!:

Proper freaked me out too when he suddenly knocked on my window "Excuse me sir, did you know your headlights aren't on?..."

As for the engine, I'll turn it off if I know I'm going to be waiting for a while (i.e. level crossings! And also this time I was stuck on the M25 for 2 hours with no movement due to a bad accident) but not at traffic lights.

But you Aygoers might see a hybrid Aygo; Kingo said!

I bet it will be Yaris Mk1-sized 'tho :P (If it is you may see me in one!:lol:)

Not quite what he said

I said there will be a Hybrid in every model by 2020, what I also said is that the Aygo might not be called an Aygo by then OR it might be dropped altogether, you never know what can happen in the next 9 -10 years

Kingo

PS We still have people saying "I only get X much from 3 blobs on the gauge and last week I got Y blobs..............Does it really matter that much? It is a guage, an INDICATION of the level of fuel, don't get so hung up about it ffs

I'll get me coat ...........

19-4-2011 Tuesday Updated:

Hi Everyone's who had read this topic.

I had broke my own record !!! I done 300miles and still got 3 bars light left!!!! and I am hoping to get extra 100 miles from it!!

For the last few weeks I been driving very smoothly and slowly , change gear more frequency and brake with Engine Power.

I am also using Shell's petrol which I am not sure dose this make a difference?!?!

But for sure the driving style make a big difference!

I filled up this morning before my trip back from Blackpool, filled it to the brim.Set off home, mostly Motorway driving for me.

I got a little concerned when I hit 100 miles done and the first Blob still hadnt gone. I got another 18 miles out of it before my first blob went??? A 118 miles was worried myfuel gauge wasnt working. Im a bit heavy footed as well and had the AC at times. Im guessing there must be a lot of space after the tank says its full??
