I appreciate the fact that you guys are honest, as madvinegar said :D

But I just like some variation after a while.

(I'm having a little bit a tired look of them actually :P )

But, who knows, I could miss the silver colour after a year, and want it again :P

Here's the grey from a little closer:

Can you photoshop the gold ones on?

(and how do you paint them??? Just spraying them?)

This is a photoshop of the picture I uploaded yesterday (with the grey wheel).

Just coloured it a little, and put grey lug nuts.

The gold still has to dry now, then I can hold it in front of the car :)

Yes, I'm just using spray cans.

Result is better as expected actually.

What kind of spray are you using? It looks amazing even in the close-up photo.

The result is unbelievable considering that you are just spraying the rims and you are not using an oven or applying a layer of laquer afterwards etc. How do you avoid the "tears" or "drops" of colour and you get such an even result?

You believe that the colour will stay on firmly during time?

P.S.: Between grey and gold, I prefer the grey!

There should come a layer of varnish (the transparant layer above colour layers :P ) over it, so I guess it will stay on.

But keep in mind this is just a "test-wheel", it's the damaged wheel I received from transport.

They sent me a 5th new wheel, so I had this one as spare wheel.

Make sure you spray from a distance, about 25cm.

Always spray with a moving arm, so never spray on 1 spot (that's how you get the tears).

And do it layer per layer ;)

Just using Motip spray cans.

Whaaaah !Removed! crap lug nuts!

Tried to take them off, so I could mount the gold wheel on...

Want to unscrew the first lug nut... Crack!

Just broke in 2 pieces.

Sh*t !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :help:

These nuts were purchased from eBay?

How are you planning to take the rest of the nut out?

Didn't this worry you, as regards if these nuts can hold the rim in place when in hard use? i.e. in a track day?

Yes, bought them from eBay.

They will be drilled out with a very small drill, next to the studs, so the lug nut will break in pieces :)

I never do track days, it's just for daily use ;)

But the "head" of the nut is still in place, so the wheel can't come off.

Hope you are right mate. It's not only track days. It might be high speeds in the high way, or a severe braking that put high presure on the nuts.

Anyway, good luck in taking the broken nut out!

i still prefer the silver, then gold and the grey last as has been said the wheels look lost.

you could weld a socket onto the rest of the nut either but drilling the centre of the nut is probably handiest

i seen an american car forum and the same happened some lad..........so he cut the rim to bits

Damn, wasn't he smarter than that? :P

But some people on other forums said it's because I don't use a "moment key" (that's how we call it here).

A key to get the nuts on with a specific ammount of "Nm".

I just did it manual... :)

So, who knows, when these are taken off, I'll look for a new set, and a moment key :P

In regards to your window stickers...are they specific window stickers or are they just regular decals/vinyls?

if so how hard are they to remove once they've been stuck on?

I know this might be a little offtopic but I need some help/suggestions. Anyone here got 17" wheels et45? How do they look on an E12? Or 16" wheels et40? I require some ideas before ordering a set of new wheels for my car. Thanks.

@ wangastic: They are window stickers.

You can just peel them off with your fingernails.

After removing, clean the window as you normally do, and eerything's back normal

@ Asphyxion: those 17" you suggested will definately fit good.

Original wheels got also ET 45, but they are only 6J wide.

So, after some calculating: the 17x7.5 wheels will come 1.9cm wider than the original wheels (on the in- and outside of the arch)
