Engine Light Normal?

Just baught a TSport, when i turn the key half way, prior to starting the engine, the lights all come up on the dash and then they go out. The engine light one stays on until the key is fully turned and engine is started. Once engine is started all disappear as they should.

I've consulted the manual but seems a bit unclear.

My 206 did the same, just wondering if this is normal.

Kindest Regards and look forward to becoming an active poster.

It's normal. It does the same thing to me. Ofcourse I have a 1.4cc but I think it must have the same mentality.

lol.

all, if not most, cars will do this. quite simply you have turned on the computer/ignition and it is looking for the engine. because it can't find the engine (because you haven't turned it on) it thinks that something is wrong. it does say in every car manual to only contact a mechanic if the engine lights "stays" on whilst driving.

on a side note, i would recommend that (especially if you have traction control/vsc) you turn the key half way and wait a few seconds before actually starting the car. this gives the car a chance to get most of the electrical starting stuff out of the way and is much kinder to the engine. i.e. less likely to have stuff go wrong
