It will cost you about £55 from Toyota. The key is chipped so you can't just get one cut at your local shoe shop.

haha, thanks for the quick response, ok well that sounds reasonable - although I have no keys what so ever - so how's this one going to work - will i have to pay extra for someone to come out and see the car ?? orrr am i able to give them the reg and they can then give me the key?

thanks AGAIN! STEVE

NO keys? Did you get the keynumber when you bought your car?

With that you can get a key made at Toyota without having the keys themselves present...

Did you buy you car from a toyota dealership?

If so and they service it they may ( in their records ) have the key details.

Unless you can find someone to re-programme your ECU then you are up the creek without a paddle

New lockset and ECU

You MUST MUST MUST keep a spare master key for your Toyota, otherwise it is a very expensive game

If you have no keys and you don't have the key number that is a completely different matter! As suggested by Bos my first call would be to your Toyota dealership to see if they have a note of your key number? If not then there are companies that can re-program the ECU, approx £400 is a rough cost? (Google them) Otherwise it's a new ECU and I doubt you'd see any change from £800+

Call the dealership. I had the same problem with my Peugeot 106 when I lost my key, and couldnt find the spare one. (Luckily for me I found my spare) but I did enquire at a dealer. They asked for my registration, and chassis number, and log books. I mean I could be anyone asking for a key. They did ask for other proof about who I was. By the way, the spare key I was quoted was £75. Thats was 6 years ago, so I wont be surprised it its gonna cost you s bomb. Imagine losing one key,a dn then using the spare, and losing that one too. Nuts!
