I believe on the original TSport (non turbo) the bores were Nikasil coated. I would assume the turbo is similar. The engine was developed in cooperation with Yamaha and used there bike technology for the cylinder coatings... or so I believe. I know mine had a massive Yamaha name cast into the block.

The coatings there for a reason... maybe its to prevent the rings from overheating at very high RPM when friction losses increase.

can you not buy the stones and get someone to do it? Or is it a case of finding someone to do it? Seems such a waste lol id have a good google search someone in the u s of a must have some info on this there are losts of turbo'd celicas out there id try an find a tuning company there and try and get some info, have you tried fensport? What do you want to do to the cylinders? If you just want them honed up a bit i doubt it will need re coating as you just improving the surface but if youre feboring then it will need a new lining

yeah i think all 2zz are nikasil coated yeah they wre desined with yamaha mate pitty bout the stupid coating such a hasle.

Iv been told the bores need bored out lol due to the cylinders bein out of tolerence and to get them re-coated its roughly 850.

yeah the coating is so you can run closer ring gaps with less friction and it dose help disperse heat. but honda V-tec are just normal bores no coating and they do fine sooo is ther really a need for it ?? i need to find out a prity pissed off TBH. dying to be the first of what i no to have a turbo t-sport in britain but his just gonna cost stupid money to do
