Bought 17 alloy wheel and thinking between 205/45 or 205/50 tyres? Which one is best?

Original Tyre size of my 02 Corolla D4D saloon is 195/65R15

Thank you,

205/45 will be cheaper as its a common tyre size 205/50 will fill the arch a bit more and the ride wont be as hard, really down to you both will fit, if your car is lowered id go with 45's

Thanks for the advice, forgot to mention I might put 40mm lowering spring by next month. Hope 50 profile tyre would be good on 40mm drop? also have you heared someone put 215 on back wheels and 205 on front?

Yes I have, more to fill out the arches than anything, I have looked at the options and am going for 5mm spacers on the rear instead then I can still rotate the wheels for wear if I wish to do so

Found a guy selling lowering spring here, He told me "Hi I have a set their for the 1.4/1.6 3door but iam sure the will fit 80e for the set"

What I have is 2002 Corolla D4D 2L 4door saloon. do you think it's the same spring?

Wow, I wouldn't take the 205/50 at all.

I first lowered mine 50mm with coilovers, having 205/45 on my 17".

That rubbed alot at the front, with damping level in hardest setting.

If I were you, 205/45 :)

Just my experience.

Grtz

Ben mine was lowered by 35mm, would have liked to go a little lower but speed bumps etc are a pain in the ar*e round here.

BTW I have tries a 50 profile against a 45 today on my car and still think I will go for the 50 profile, the tyres are a little more expensive (£4 per tyre) but the fill the arches better. Saying that might be going for 215's next and in that case will go for a 45, If you go for a big drop then 45's will be much better (oops just seen you got the 45's  )
