not a problem - i dont expect you to battle the elements for me :P do you remember roughly how much they were? im kind of expecting them to be expensive from the dealer...

theres scuffs to the bottom of the bumper which suggests it hasnt been on there a while, however none of the mounting holes or brackets are broken or damaged so at a guess its been removed by the previous owner, possibly bacise of a low drive way or something. its the original bumper as far as i can tell. full hpi showed nothing and id believe it to be true.

thanks for the pointer on the shocks. ill keep an eye out on ebay for a combined set - any particular ones that work well that wont cost the earth?

I don't remember exactly, they wern't cheap as such though, worth it in my opinion, keeps it looking right.

I agree with EXS on the yellow Konis, that is what I have, Depends on what your budget is to be honest as far as pointers go.

Enjoyed a mini road trip last week, and drove a road I had not sampled previously.

Wonderful road, favourite of our biking brethren, and even hassled a few on my way across, they really don't expect a Grandadmobile to be as agile you know!?

Another change of direction.

In order to fund the repairs to the bodywork, that are needed after local scum continue the program of vandalism and carnage to my vehicle, and to address a couple of rust patches that are showing, I have decided to turn the car into a van.

This way I can offer my services as a super-speedy delivery service, in an eye-catching and conversation starting vehicle. Local companies can call on my services to take care of their small scale logistics needs.

Not really, I kind of went off one one there, but I have been stripping seats out of the old girl in order to use it as a 'large-item collection and delivery' service for me and my other half. House move means cabinets and chairs need to be moved, and the boot is not cutting it as standard.

So the socket set came out, and then the interior began to follow....

Well, the furniture moving went well, thankfully!

All seats back in, and a few days away with the Mrs.

800 odd miles covered and a good time had, apart from Wiltshire and Somersets roads claimed another victim.....

Todays parcel....

Actually, I got to say this, Euro Car Parts never fail to please me. I should be on commission for the amount of praise I heap on them.

Ordered Lamp and bulbs yesterday, 3-5 days delivery (free). Parcel turns up this morning.

Really cannot argue with that, combined with 25% discount, it is a real no brainer.

Anyway....

New lamp is great, a lot cheaper than trade discounted Toyota and equal quality to be fair. Fit and finish is top notch.

As for the bulbs, packaging is fab, good first impressions.

Bit of a bugger to fit as room is limited, so we (my wonderful other half and I) whipped out the whole headlamps and swapped the bulbs that way. No probs.

The initial difference is night and day (pun intended). Have not driven with them yet, but the look as the car sat under the car port in the drive was a real marked change. Clear, crisp light in the reflector bowl and a sharp beam. Looking forward to using them on the road.

A bit more work done.

This is another bit that has been bugging me for a little while.

'orrible build up in the washer bottle of slimy black grime. Leads to blocked filter, slow pump and poor jets. Not good as we approach winter.

Not nice. So into the kitchen and a soak and scrubbing session ensues, with a brew on the go :thumbsup:

Excuse the rest of the bay in shot looking a bit grubby and stuff, not had too much time to devote to car tinkering lately. One thing I couldn't sort, was the pipes from the pump to the jets. A build up has gathered in them and I cannot detatch them. So I'm keeping an eye on them for now, hope that they clear a bit as I use it more with a clear bottle and pump.

Piece of cake to do.

Bolt at the front of the bottle to undo, attatches to slam panel, then it lifts 'off' a captive bolt on the side of the inner wing, and out of a slot under the base of the washer bottle itself. It sits on a locator pin that is part of the bottle mould itself.

Pump pulls out of the bottle as you lift the bottle off the inner wing as the pipes are not too long, obviously the pipes are unclipped from the bottle first, have a look and you will see what I mean.

Pump attatches to the bottle through a rubber grommet. I took that out and cleaned seperately, as well as detatching the bottle lid for ease of cleaning all parts.

I hear that dishwashers are quite good at loosening the grime, but I do not have access currently, so did it the good old fashioned way (sink, bottlebrush, anti-bacterial spray and washing up liquid. Plenty of hot water too.).

Let me know how you get on, and if you have a solution to de-gunking the pipes nearest the bottle. My pipes are part black, part clear, and the all have a furry lining of muck. My other cars are easy, as the pipes disconnect easily, but I've tried pulling them apart on the SR, and they don't budge.

Well, another week, another aspect that needs addressing....

A lack of dash illumination. Now, the pic is from my 'phone so excuse the quality, but a couple of bulbs have stopped working behind the wheel.

The fuel gauge has been out for a while now, another little job I've put off. But now the temp gauge has followed and taken with it a large portion of the whole dash light.

So. Will be tackling this next, not done it before myself, but remember the procedure from my days at the Dealers so will possibly crack on at the weekend if time allows. Will report back!

Ouch not good, i know these are really fiddly too!

Any idea wether the green bulbs on the trip computer/heater dials can be replaced with matching red items like the speedo? I really dont want to pull it apart to break anything, or find its a green filter and im unable to change it... Any ideas?

Well, as is the norm for me, I go ages without posting......

So, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and I hope that we are all well?

I promised to post some pictures last year, god that sounds bad, of my taking part in the Toyota Sprint Series round at Croft circuit. And again as usual, I haven't got round to posting them yet......I'm a lazy sod, I know!

Anyway, as this years Championship dates have been released this week, it has reminded me on, so I thought I'd post a few taken of me and the old girl there on the day.

Had a go at the earlier mentioned instrumentation bulbs a while ago, and got not very far actually, so thought I'd have another crack.

Problem.

Cowls removed and speedo assembly freed off, but the whole lot will NOT pull forward, feels as if the harness is snagged or perhaps held with a tie or something. tried putting my (considerable) weight behind it, and still no movement forwards.

Damn you!

Any ideas on this guys and gals?

Another day, another dollar.......spent.

Nothing major, or actually for the car, but realised that amongst all my gear in the garage, I am without a torque wrench! The shame! So popped out and picked a brand new one up at a decent price. Job done.

However, upon the journey home, it appears that the clutch on the old girl is beginning to have thoughts of departing to the great big metal recycling skip in the sky.....

Some spirited driving alongside a MG ZS highlighted the 'slip' and my wallet started to itch, so all in all, not good signs.

Any owners replaced an E11 clutch on here? Experiences?

Looks amazing! Are the decals nessesary?

The closest one to me is croft (still 200miles away though) im seriously considering it as i fancy having a good go.

What class do you run in? What sort of figure would i be looking at to compete? Any specialised equipment needed (helmet overals etc) and is it just the one day or a weekend?

The graphics are mandatory, due to sponsor agreements. I have mine on magnetic backings though, so I can take them on and off with ease ;-)

Cardiff to Croft is about 290/300 miles I think, Barkston/Blyton and Wittering are all around 200 from you I reckon?

Get your name down for a round or two, it's great!

I ran in Class D Street, and will be the same this year. Cost me £120 for the one round, and used less than a quarter of a tank of fuel doing it. Cheaper than a track day, less track time, but the elemant of real competition is worth it.

Need a helmet, although they can hire you one on the day if you don't have one, a long sleeved top and some gloves, that's it :-)

Each round is ran over the course of one day, makes things easier and cheaper.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like i could possibly make a round on my very poor budget :D ill dig into a bit further and possibly put my name down dependant on how my finances are in the next couple of months as work has been very slow recently.

I havent done one on a E11 but one thing for sure is, 6speed gearboxes are damn heavy!

I can copy all the pages from my haynes mannual for you if its of help?
