Guys

Im thinking...my speed guage pod lights up a bright white...im thinking is it possible to make my centre console ie time/temp/buttons/cig lighter etc...light up white too? Im thinking if i use white led's it will be way too bright you wont see anything B) ...whereas clear bulbs might cause like bright spots  ...either way will look untidy...Has anyone found a way to make it work? Would it be easy to do? How many and what type bulbs would i need?

SAmmy

its easy on a pfl as the centre console bulbs just have covers on them, pull them off and either paint the bulbs or buy new covers  think its different on the fl??? think they are coloured bulbs ???

bit of a poor pic

Well, it's perfectly possible.

I have changed my centre console lights into blue LEDs.

I made a tutorial for the Dutch corolla club where I'm in.

First part shows how to get the console out of the car, and how to open it.

Second part shows how to solder the LEDs.

Here's the link:

It's written in dutch, maybe you can use a online translator? :P

Or when I'm really bored maybe I can translate it myself later, don't know yet :)

Edit:

here some more (crappy) pics of it. These are taken while testing the display LEDs.

Now it's all blue, so please don't think there's some green left :P

The blue looks absolutely awesome mate...good on yaa...now IM imagining it all in WHITE...clean and bright... ...i already know how to remove the console etc...and im sure i remember seeing a set of 3 or 4 bulbs that i could play around with at the back...but iv'e remembered...the actual screens ie time and temp i think are gonna be a bummer to work around if they dont have a bulb behind them...and oh yes...nobodys mentioned the cig lighter bulb :o ???

My cig lighter bulb is also blue :P

I'll take a pic in a moment.

But when u change the console lights with leds, make sure u got leds who shine the light in a corner of at least 90° ;)

Well, got some good and bad news :P

I got the pictures of the blue cig lighter LED, but not with the plastic cover around it (I took some parts out to repaint).

You can see the cig lighter, but the real colour isn't that good shown in the pics, you can see it better in the reflection on the parts around

This LED shines out the blue light in a corner of 120° ;)

(But: I had to cut a bit off the grey bulb holder, because my LED was too big to fit IN :) )

if you have white dials you can't do it, the green is actually painted onto the back of the white screens.

What you mean?

There is nothing painted in the centre console :)

Else mine wouldn't be this blue.

And I know people who got red and white in there ;)

sorry maybe i didnt make this clear.

the heater dials that turn on the heater and air con are green on the back. so changing the bulb wont make any difference. you have a digital air con/heater controls not the dials.

i think you thought i meant speedo dials? sorry i meant the heater controls :)

i know the T3 is dials and not digital but dunno about the Tspirit and the SR

Ooh now I get it ;)

I have got digial screens to set the airco, but indeed there are also manual buttons.

Isn't it possible to scrub off the green layer at the back of the panel, using some very fine smoothing sand paper? (if you know what I mean).
