Hi all,

I've not been back on this site since I joined it about 6 months ago.

My car was vandalised and the insurance company (co-op) wrote it off.

Ive been 'offered' £300 as a settlement, but I think its worth alot more.

There's not many of these things around now and trying to value using AutoTrader and the like gets almost no results.

So then I thought, who would have a better idea than all you fine people!

Take a look at my photos and help me out with your vote (or any usefull hints/tips)

1990 Toyota Corolla GL 1.3

I have almost a complete service record for the car and it had 10 Months MOT left when it was written off.

150000 Miles on the clock and serviced by myself every 4000. Spal Electric Window kit alone cost me £200 to put in!

Thanks to all who vote!!

This will be a big help!!

In terms of face value with that sort of mileage I think the offer is relatively fair..

If you want a better a price you need to try and get across to them that you couldn't get as a good a car as that one has been for you for £300 ?

I think that's a fair price for a car that's over 20 years old and with 150,000 miles. What kind of damage did the vandals do?

You don't have accept their first offer. Write back to them and give your reasons for not accepting it and ask them to revise the offer. You could point out that Kia (i believe) are offering a minimum of 2k in px subject to certain conditions, like valid mot, runner etc... Good luck.

You should remember though, that although it has a value to you, a car of that age and that mileage is pretty much worth nothing onthe open market :crybaby:

Is there no way you could repair the damage yourself?

I would write back to them and poss see if they will up the offer, but I think the 400 mark will be the highest

Sorry to hear about your problems, but £300.00 seems quite good to me based on the milage.
