The ABS must br really screwed then, the only time mine EVER works is when I first collect a car and deliberately try it out!

Yeah i think its been like that since i got it , the engineer said to me within the first 2 weeks that they are pretty sensitive however it should die down a bit. Its any time im going over 30 miles an hour and having to break dowm , slower speeds its not kicking in unless its un even road surfaces or something like that

Mine wasn't getting reverse either.

But Kingo's Lads (and Ladies actually) sorted it for me.

As for ABS, Mine had been weird the first month or so, now it's perfect.

nice one ... ill fire this back to them... if it breaks its under warranty anyway..

was it every so often the reverse wouldnt select? then youd think it was in and didnt work?

Possibly......

There's no synchromesh on the Aygo's reverse gear.

If the car is cold & the gearbox oil is thick,

you might end up with the reverse gears coming together tooth-to tooth.

If you dip your clutch in neutral then try again, they generally line up properly.

As things loosen up with age, this problem usually cures itself.

Happens to mine a couple of times a year, mines MMT.

It just tries again and it goes in.

My wife has a manual, same thing. A few times a year, she has to dip clutch in Neutral to get

all the gears moving then select reverse a second time.

If you just keep moving the gearstick forwards & backwards, the gears won't move.

You have to lift the clutch in Neutral to spin them up.

Hope this helps.

Ian.

It's a bit hard to describe, but it may be down to your timing.

If you are concerned about the problem, you may be putting your foot on the clutch, then

waiting before you try to engage reverse. The more time you allow for things to stop spinning,

the more likely you will be to encounter the problem.

Conversely......try this out......If you're really fast selecting reverse......

Clutch down really fast and whip the gearstick quickly into reverse, The gears will all

be spinning really quickly and they will engage but will grind a bit.

You could experiment with something half-way, a bit quicker than you are doing, a bit slower than I've described above.

May help?

Ian.

It was every other morning with me. Got so annoyed.

I've found that reversing onto my drive when the engine is warm and then driving out forwards when it's cold (in the mornings)

was the best thing, no getting furious before work.. as getting furious IS for work. :)

But like Ian says. Experiment. I can shift really quick but i didn't find that that helped for me.

But it's one of them. Just faff until it's nearly right then keep attacking until it's perfect.

Anyway i hope it gets sorted for you, but try reversing in then driving out.
