Oil Leak From Injector

Hello everyone

My 2005 avensis 2.2d is leaking a significant amount of oil from the far left injector. The problems started yesterday when, at 70mph the engine went into limp mode and the malfunction, trc and vsc lamps came on. I restarted the engine and it ran smoothly for a while (the warning lights stayed on) then the engine went into limp mode again whilst accelerating at about 55mph, and again ran smoothly again when restarted. I was going to try and clean the egr valve but when i took the engine cover off i saw a lot of oil around the left side of the engine, and when the engine is running you can see oil coming out of the left injector.

I haven't found any other posts on this, I'm starting to think I've got a major problem!

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Mike

Is the leaking fluid engine oil or diesel fuel??

I'm fairly sure its oil. It's black and the engine oil level has dropped a lot.

I looks like oil to me to! Does it smell of Diesel at all? Sometime it can leak from the fuel pipes. I serviced me mothers car the other day (Citroen C3 Petrol) and changed the spark plugs that have never been done (Onlu 22k on the clock) and when I looked down at the plugs I could see small pools of oil. Turns out that the spark pugs were only just touching the head and oil was escaping past the plugs. So I made sure I torqued the new plugs up correctly....
