Corolla Verso 04 Air Con Problems

I took my car in today to refill the air con gas - all done - but it wouldn't work! Pipes clear, no leaks but no cooling either. My mechanic thinks I might have to replace the unit - sooooo expensive! Quoted £432 + vat for a reconditioned unit + labour or over £700 for a new unit. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Take it to somebody who CAN diagnose it, MIGHT have to replace it is not a good enough diagnosis. The A/C compressor OR clutch might be faulty

Can we assume the A/C was not working before the gas refill and this was the reason you had the work done?

If this is the case then you should question the diagnosis and the attempted fix.
