Mpg Computer Readout.

Does anyone else find that their MPG readout on the trip computer tends to UNDER estimate the MPG figure? I have a 2006 Corolla 1600 VVTi. According to the trip computer I have been getting 42.6 mpg overall. Out of curiousity I decided to keep a note of how much petrol I have used over the last 4 fill ups, and I work it out to be almost 50 mpg! Must admit I have been driving it fairly gently given that I am not working so no hurry to get anywhere; but I wasn't expecting such good petrol consumption! Good little car, this  .

I find mine is near enough spot on... which is a shame as it normally says av 27mpg :(

Brandane - I think you need a heavier shoe you're up there in diesel fuel economy!

Actually yes me too! Mine says about 34-35 mpg in town sometimes but When i work it out myself its more near 40mpg.

One quick question for everyone what is your Motorway mpg normally.. Is it me or is it most 1.4 because it revs fairly high at 70mph due to the short gearing I am getting about 38mpg :(

My 1.4 is the same, if it had a 6th gear it would be a lot better, and quieter

Here is what I am acheiving in my Compressor. Considering the car I do not think that this is too bad. I do drive like a old man though

This is with about 70% town driving too.

Only ever done one decent motorway trip in the 16 months or so I've owned the E11.Did Birmingham and back in a day and the computer readout was something like 44 mpg average which is okay but nothing special. Also used a litre of oil :crybaby: which is when I realised the car has a oil appetite :crybaby:
