Hi

We have recently had a valet on the car and the car was misfiring after the valet and the following day it would not start. It will now start (after approx 1 week) but only runs for few seconds. We are assuming ECU has become damp and is causing the problem, it there any way to recify the fault without going thro a main dealer

I'd try an auto-electrician as a dealer is unlikely to know.

The ecu and immobiliser sit behind the panel of the passenger footwell

If the carpet has been washed there may be some moisture in the ecu

take out the ecu and immobiliser and carefully remove the covers - dry with a hair dryer - also dry the plugs.

If the engine has been steam cleaned or pressure washed the problem is more likely to be water in the connectors - uplug the connectors one at a time and blow them out with compressed air - take off the plug caps as well and dry them out

hope this helps
