Hey everyone, don't know if this topic has been covered before.

But I'm trying to see how the Compressor looks with a stainless steel system , and what cost am I looking at, it's started to sound a little different lately so that "rusty hole patch" that Toyota were on about when I went for a service.......has got bigger.....

But hell no am I paying around £800 for a new compressor exhaust ....

I want to keep the same look as standard, basically I wondered if anyone had any decent images so I can see what to expect.

Cheers !

yeah was a good price. sounds lovely at low speed, and even sweeter when giving it a bit of beans. my old standard couldn't be filled with gungum no more lol

got it done in exeter, got to admit the comp looks ugly with a horse box hanging out from the bottom of the car.

Mine is similar to that the boxes are slightly smaller nice and throaty, Longlife did a cat back system for 400 bucks and that's with a warranty too

And then month after that, I'll need new front brakes and pads, what would be best for those ya recon? I'll probably start a new topic bout that closer to the time lol

powerflow is over-rated. i'm afraid if you want a half decent exhaust made up by someone who knows what they're doing and not some spotty teenage trainee, then you're going to have to bite the bullet and pay upwards of 700 quid...

this is the joys of living where I do, powerflows main garage done mine in exeter, this spotty trainee looked pretty old for a teen. my exhaust does its job, hell I don't expect it to cook me dinner and kiss me good night.

I was quoted £400 for 2 custom boxes stainless steel with lifetime warrenty. where does the 700 come from?

What I'll probably do is , go to the local Powerflow suppliers in Hull , ( unless anyone else knows of somewhere around here I can go ?? ) then try and get a quote off them to start and maybe look at the quality of finish they have on their products there, if I'm not happy - I'll go else where, I love my car and wouldn't just get it because it's cheap , I want the good stuff still. But just thought that paying Mr Toyota £800 and something quid for a replacement for mine was rather crazy !! Plus a Stainless system should last longer ... right ?

Yeah it will and depending if it's a good custom job. Plus you will get a lifetime guarantee with a custom stainless.

i had a powerflow exhaust fitted on my old compressor and simply had to get it replaced within a week. it was fitted by a 'younger gentleman' and it was woeful - it sounded awful, and one tail-pipe stuck out a good 2 inches than the other. not only that, it had started to rust. yes, after a week. so, i did a bit of research (which i should have done the first time round ffs) and i went for an independant guy in belfast who charged 650 quid for a cat-back with 1 middle box and 2 back boxes. the workmanship was second to none, and it definitley freed up a bit more power (after a resetting the ecu). but the best bit was the sound. in lift, it sounded immense, and i could not wait to blip it up and down the aisles of a multi-storey just to hear it echo. best thing i ever did to the car.

my point is:- if you want an exhaust made up for a powerful car, you 100% need to be sure you get someone who knows what they're doing. powerflow are too hit and miss, so you're better paying the extra for a professional job. a bit of research goes a long way mate. the reason i said £700 and upwards is the fact that this is the average price i was quoted from a few different specialist places. ckman85 spent far more than this to put on a hayward & scott system :- he knew the importance of getting a good exhaust installed.

ps.. here's a thread i made at the time i had it installed, it contains a few pics. i think you'll agree the quality is second to none.

Mcchunkers that looks amazing!! Beautiful piping on that, and the joining is amazing, I completely agree with you that a car like this needs that special someone that knows what their doing and that you need to pay for it. I'm going to have to do my research I think..... Its just difficult to know where to go here, haven't lived in Hull that long, and the web seems to show only a couple of places....more research needed I think, I will keep you posted on what I end up doing thou :D

i loved my compressor when it was on form, sadly i had to shift her on. i miss the sound but not the fuel bills.

good luck getting sorted mate. i'd say you'd need to travel a bit to get the job done and it'll take a few days so be prepared to leave it at their workshop. believe me mate, i wouldn't trust a powerflow on my wife's polo let alone a 218bhp compressor...
