How much is a second hand tte strut brace worth?

Are they worth fitting or is a solid strut brace with out a damper better?

Quite a rare 2nd hand item, PFL owners tend to want them

I'd go for solid personally, the TRD one is excellent

Yeh haven't got the funds for a trd one at the mo how much would you pay for a tte one as I might be able to get one for my t sport but don't want to pay over the odds for it.

Would love a trd one though!

Seen them go for up to £100+ on eBay.

The one I had for my pre facelift I bought gor £70 and sold for £70.

Check the breakers on eBay

to make things clearer:

the facelift Tsports have a Toyota Strut brace (with damper) as standard. (£400 from toyota)

the compressors have a TTE solid strut brace as standard. (£230 from toyota)

there is also the TRD solid strut brace. (£230 from fensport)

I've now have both types of strut brace on the car. The standard brace is better than no brace, but lacks the initial "turn in" of the solid brace, however the solid brace can be a little harsh over speed bumps etc...

So 40 quid is a bargain for the tte one with a damper?

The strut brace isn't a tte one but the seller has become a pain in the *****! Been sent a pic of the whole strut brace and it looks split on the actual bar on the left hand side.

Asked the seller to send a close up and all I got was it's not cracked 100% trust me so I asked to see the pic again if he can't supply one I'm not interested.

What do you all recon?

If he hasn't got anything to hide he will take the pic and be as helpful as possible

Hi All,

Sorry to resurrect an old topic but what would people think was a reasonable amount for a pair of TTE strut braces (front and rear)?? I saw that someone paid £70 for their damped TTE front one on this topic, so would you say £150 was a good price for both?

Cheers,

Si

which rear brace do you mean? the one that comes standard with the facelift (underseat brace) or the TRD rear boot brace.

If anyone is after a facelift dampered front strut brace there is a blue pre facelift on eBay for 1300 thats a cat D and non starter. might be worth an offer  Its also got the TTE exhaust fitted and typhoon. its been relisted twice so they might be desperate for a bit of cash.

I'll admit i'm not 100% sure as i've not seen it in person - but it's advertised as a TTE one though. It's fitted under the seats? That's a new one on me, but I guess it's done that way to maintain the seat's lie-flat function. Has anyone got a pic of this brace to share so I know what i'm looking at?

Not that i'm saying that this is prompted me to ask the question in the first place, but......

Well I don't know the Length of the bar as there is probs another 100mm hidden from veiw on each side.

The kit comes with a stright bar and two brackets

383999_10150916516150431_874815430_21300187_1582397791_n.jpg

You have to remove the boot lining at each side and attatch these brakets to the seatbelt mechanism

388507_10150916517190431_874815430_21300188_1608574829_n.jpg

So it should look like this (these two are from the opposite side to the picture above)

382171_10150916515080431_874815430_21300184_2079194937_n.jpg

313076_10150916513740431_874815430_21300182_1415850420_n.jpg

Then the bar is attached to the bracket at each side using two bolts.

The plastic trim needs to be cut to allow the bar to fit and still be hidden by the parcel shelf.

Hope this helps

Remember they're not TTE, just Toyota. the official TTE brace is solid metal.

as for price £150 for both is a good price, don't expect a lot from them though.

Thought as much, thanks MD. How comes I shouldn't be expecting too much of them then? I don't plan on making the car a track day machine, it's a very comfortable and reasonably economical daily driver/commuter that goes BANZAI when the mood takes me!

The opinion i've formed from driving my PFL, is that the main flaw in the CTS factory setup is the wheel & tyre size. Since fitting my 17" with 225/45 tyres it's improved the grip and handling significantly.

The way I see it, these Toyota braces will add a bit of lateral rigidity to my suspension setup without making it too "crash bang wallop". I guess that's what the dampers are for!! I plan to drop the car on TTE springs when I have the cash, so making the setup almost exactly like a factory standard facelift model.

I think that would do nicely for someone like me who values the comfort & quality of the Rolla's ride almost as much as the mentalist/schizo nature of the engine response!
