If there is a sight glass on the filter body: Fill slowly until "bubbling" in the sight glass stops. If it is R134a (most likely) then be sure to fill with the cylinder inverted, ie, liquid charge. If it is R12, (doubtful) the use cylinder upright & charge with vapour/gas.

If there is no sight glass, then you must charge by weight using very expensive electronic scales (!)or, until, the suction gauge does not fall below 0 psi at around 3,000 rpm. (of the engine)

I dare say someone can tell you the exact figure-by-weight (normally found on a label somewhere under the bonnet)but the above should be ok for a rough guide.

You have of course evacuated the system....?...The longer the system has been open to air, the longer you must evacuate....(You did not say whether you are merely "topping up" or refilling the system from scratch after repair) Overnight is always preferable,to better than 20in Hg...and holds this reading for at least 5 minutes...then it is deemed ok to recharge the system as above.
