E12 Headlight Beam Level Switch

Does anyone know how to remove the Headlight Beam Level Control Switch from the dash? I have searched for a previous topic on this with no luck.

I couldnt upload a photo so I have borrowed one from a previous post.

Hey,

that's my picture haha :D

U open the little "glasses box" under these buttons, and u pull it out.

Then you can put your hand through it, and push out the beam level switch from the inside ;)

Thanks Noedel, I was able to remove it.

I have taken apart the beam control switch as the bulb has blown. The bulb looks like an LED but is actually long thin bulb of similar size to LED with a green sleeve or "condom" over it. It is soldered directly into the back of the switch.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement bulb? Toyodiy.com shows no part number from it just a whole new switch for €80. I'll try get a photo of it up later.

Hey,

One tip: don't buy that whole new switch, €80 is waaaaaaay too much!

I have changed my interior lights all into blue led, so I know how it looks like inside.

You can perfectly take out the bulb of the cigarette ashes box (the box at the bottom of the midconsole), and put that one in the beam level switch.

(to reach that one, quickly take out the console, and pull out the small bulb holder)

Easiest way to do it would be by soldering the bulb on, if it's broken you can easily "solder it off" agin too :)

Here's a picture from when I opened mine to change the bulb into led.

And the next picture shows how I soldered the led in

But as said before, it can be perfectly done with another original bulb (I never use the cigarette ashes box anyway :P )

Is it possible to use one of these bulbs:

and strip off the bulb holder off to give me:

Can this now be used in the beam level switch? Or I just need to order a Neo wedge LED????????

You can also use those bulbs from the console, but where are you going to "steal" that one from? :P

And no problem for the pics man :P
