Retro Fitting Oem Cruise Control To A 2.0 D4-D?

Hi, newbie here with a question. We've got a 2007 2.0 D4-D SR.

I've searched around this part of the forum but can't seem to find the answer, the owners manual describes cruise control so it must have been fitted to some corolla model(s).

Can OEM cruise control be retro-fitted to a corolla that currently doesn't have it? If so, how difficult and what parts do I need (and will they be expensive)?

I can live in the hope it's as easy as my 2001 vectra was which just needed a stalk but I doubt it will be.

Thanks in advance...

Have a look at the Auris site on this subject, includes DIY photos.

i read a topic a while back and it was only possible to fit cruise control to a 1.6 facelift, this was because that particular version had an electronic clutch while our models do not, from what i remember the topic concluded it was not possible for those without the electric clutch

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I found this topic in the Auris section: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86751 which looks easy and this one about a verso with the same engine as my corolla: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=115707&st=0&p=1046704&hl=+corolla%20+cruise%20+control&fromsearch=1entry1046704.

So that implies to me it is possible, but other threads say it wasn't an option on uk corollas even though the manual describes it and nowhere can I find a definitive 'yes' or 'no' for a corolla.

Can't find anything about electronic clutches mind. Do you not mean electronic throttle, as the requirements are usually fly-by-wire (elec) throttle, clutch and brake switches so pressing clutch or brake pedal deactivates the cruise.

So unfortunately I'm still a bit confused as to whether it is possible or not.
