New Head Unit - Jvc Kw-Xr811

Hi All,

I have a 2005 1.4 D4D 5 door hatchback. My original head unit stopped working recently (Model No: W58814). I got a replacement unit from the breakers yard (different model No), but I have lost the following:

Time.

Temperature.

Multi Function Steering Wheel Control.

I suspect the replacement part comes from a basic model, but I am no expert.

I am thinking of changing the head unit to this:

My questions are:

Will this facia panel work with this unit?

Do I need a steering wheel stalk to make the multi function seering wheel work, if so is this what I need?

Hi Steve,

I swapped my oem unit and got a JVC KW AVX740. The Facia adapter I got was this one - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT23TY07-Toyota-Corolla-Double-Din-Facia-Adaptor-Kits-/400259130677?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d314da535

The above Facia will be a tight fit but my unit fitted perfect. Some Facia's need trimming abit for the unit to fit but I have a JVC so should be the same fit! (The Facia adapter from Dynamic Sounds Ltd did not fit mine!!!).

The steering controls should work with yours as it's a 2005 model. Yeah you will need a stalk adapter/patch lead for it. :)

Do you have have steering wheel controls in your car and if so are they working? with this unit

I do have the patch lead/stalk adapter for the steering wheel controls but the controls dont work. They only work with facelift corolla's I found out after alot of searching because the plugs from the dash are different.

Looks alot better than the fascia I got.

Here a pic of mine, and the arrows show the spots where it's not fitting.

Got big gaps, at the top, the frame is 4mm "deeper", etc :P

I have ordered all the stuff, Ill post pic when its installed and report back on the functionality of the Steering Wheel buttons
