i have a longlife system fitted to my compressor, been back twice to get it made quieter but they're running/ run out of ideas of how they can make it quieter. its very boomy sounding inside the car.

if anyone else has a customer exhaust fitted to thier compressor i would be interested to know how it sounds inside the car. also any pics of the exhaust especially underneath ie the design/layout

Haven't got any pic or video but i have a longlife too and it is loud! Add's to the fun. I have found though if you want it to be quieter you have to tickle to gas pedal :censor: that!

Doesn't just adding my baffles in the back boxes help?

My design is exactly the same as the original TTE exhaust (i believe my pipes are bigger though).

Is adding more sound proofing inside the cabin an option?

Mines same size pipe, glad i didnt go bigger now.

Does yours go into one box then back out to the otherside. Mine splits just by the rear wheel & goes to each backbox seperately.

Yes i would have thought more baffles would sort it but he doesnt know what else can

No my exhaust has only 1 back box, the 2nd tail pipe goes from the back of the back box on the otherside to the back of the car.

So my pipe doesn't really split. It's not how i would have done it but the system was on the car when i bought it. I would have def opted for two back boxes.

I do wonder if having the split & two backboxes is whats making it loud but i wouldnt have thought so

Neither would i, the only other thing is possibly a hole somewhere but i would have thought that they could spot that very easily!

Also what kind of air filter/induction kit do you have?

get the carpet up and dynamat the full floor of the car. then use a noise suppressor something decent like luxury liner pro on top. refit factory sound suppressor and then fit the carpet back on..

to be honest mate, longlife exhaust parts aren't that great - in my opinion, their silencer boxes aren't up to even a half-decent standard, so they'll always carry that dreaded drone. also, the size of the pipes doesn't really matter, it's the quality of the whole system that's put together, and a proper custom job, with custom-made boxes is the only way you'll be able keep the sound the way you want. the pipe diameter on the system i had made up for my compressor was 2.5 inches and it certainly was not loud. this was due to the quality of the boxes. i requested the exhaust to be quieter than usual, so he made up 3 extra-long boxes (the 2 at the back were 18 inches long) and padded extra fibre-glass into them. the sound was great when pushing on, but wonderfully quiet when cruising at low-speeds. i'm afraid if you want a half decent exhaust that doesn't drone, you're going to have to pay good money for it - and that means finding a really good specialist. take it from me, longlife parts ain't any better than powerflow.

and as you requested pictures, here's the original thread i posted up when i originally had it made, so you can have look and see what i mean...

definitely worth paying over the odds for...

I did post on a couple of places for recommendations for places to get system made but didnt get many replies so ended up at longlife, he made a very nice job of it but its just the sound. Mines looks similar to yours mcchunkers. My centre box it probably 2.5-3ft long. I've had inserts added in the back boxes aswell.

then there's not much you can do, to be honest. if you've had inserts, and the sound remains, then aside from a whole new system, there's nothing you can do except turn the radio up a bit to try and drown it out...

i would like to agree about longlife, they are not great, the tips on my exhausts are showing signs of wear and i don't think that should happen for a 1.25 year old exhaust! Also there is a slight leak on one of the joins in the pipe before the back box. I would not use them. But in their defence i do believe the system sounds awesome :)

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does anyone know if Prospeed exhausts for the CTS Compressor are loud or if they are comparable to the Longlife exhaust?

Well i was thinking about phoning the head office and seeing what they suggest.

I cant see why they can't create a back box wo

ith alot more baffling in.

I'd like to have the equipment to be able to build my own exhaust
