Front Brake Noise

hi just wondering if someone could help me, already, my2000 celica makes a sort of pulsing scraping noise from the front brakes when applied i have not long had the car and when i bought it it had been sat for a fair amount of time so there was the odd noise from the brakes to start with however all have gone except this. unlike some noises i have read about it is only there when i apply the brakes, the pads are not that used and have not long been replaced with green stuff ones. could the discs be warped with the noise sort of pulsing or could it be something to do with the calipers any ideas would be appreciated so im not throwing money away, thanks in advance.

hit the nail on the head pretty much mate, the pulsing mostly points towards the discs being warped as I had the same problem( used to notice it more when the weather was damp or wet and even turning), however the sliders on the callipers are probably rusted up a bit due to sitting around, you prob won´t need to replace them but I would recommend spending a little time cleaning up the sliders with a wire brush, clean up your callipers too but be very carefull with the wire brush as not to damage the rubber seals on the pistons or else a repair kit will be on your agenda, copper grease it all up and the discs on eBay that are grooved and drilled for about 79 quid will do the job especially if you recycle your green stuff pads,( check they are not scored or brittle as chances are they might not bed properly on your new discs if they are.), If you do want to splash out then buy callipers from a 190 from a breaker and this will allow you to accomodate the bigger discs that are on the 190 too, the 175mm.

hope that helps, doing this is easy as long as you do it carefully and with time, don´t do it half hour before you gotta go to work, lol. then your ok, if you need any more pointers just pm me. peace
