Hi All,

I need to get a new clutch for my car. I went to my local toyota yesterday, They quote me £916 include vat, labour. The clutch alone only cost £150, so they earn £760 ?? they are so ridiculous

Anyway, I will probably buy the parts myself, and get my friend to change it for me. Can anyone recommand me which brand is better? Luk, Exedy, fensport ??

Also what else do I need, gear box oil??

Is it necessary to change the flyway as well? as i saw in the forum many corolla owner changed them at once.

Thanks for advice

Yeah, generally you goto Toyota for routine maintenance and specialist repairs, but for things like clutches, almost everywhere else is better.

They wanted £700 to do my Yaris' clutch, but I got it done for something like £400 by a travelling mechanic for who was recommended to me. He used a Valeo clutch kit (I had asked for an Exedy but he couldn't get one at the time apparently), but it's been holding up well. What got changed was the clutch plate, diaphragm spring/clutch cover, release bearing and the slave cylinder.

Usually the flywheel does not need doing unless the car has had so many clutch changes that it's actually worn, or has been damaged somehow (see DMF ). You could change it since it's in the same area but the flywheel part tends to be pretty pricey.

I was trying to get a sports/heavy duty clutch for mine but it seems they don't make them for diesel Yarisususesesis!
