Car Difficult To Start

i have an 06 avensis 2.2 d4d i have difficulty starting it ,i have done glow plug test (turning ignition on/off several times b4 turnover) but no joy. when i bought car 2 yrs ago there was a pump-like humming for about 2 secs b4 start up but now cant hear it ,if it does have a fuel priming pump where is it so i can test it ?? or if any1 else has any sugestions what i can test or what it might be please let me know,,,,

ps car runs sweet when it does start with no smoke no loss of power ,,,,,,please help
