2.0 D4D Egr Valve Blanking?

Hi people,

I've decided to blank off my EGR valve to restore some of the power from the engine and stop the black smoke popping out of the exhaust all the time.

From what I saw I will need to make a gasket for the 2 hoses here:

Has anyone done this? I want to do it but I'm afraid that the ECU might show an engine fault error or go into limp mode.

I think you can pretty much guarantee the ECU will give an error and go into limp mode. Even with the EGR being partially blocked, you can get error lights on the dash.

I used to own a VW and with the VAG ECU you could have the ECU remapped to 'ignore' the blanked EGR, but so far the encryption on the Toyota has not been cracked.

Hi

i recently blanked off the egr on my 2002 corolla d4d. No Engine management lights have come on and all running good, also at the same time i cut out the cat and replaced with straight piece of pipe.
