Hi Carina club, i own a Carina from 1994 with the 4A-FE engine. Now, the thing is, that the injections system looks very much alike the one on the lean burn 4A-FE. Could my motor be a lean-burn version?

Take a look, and ignore the airfilter, its just there for the sound.

Hi there as far as I know all the 4A-FE(1.6) and 7A-FE(1.8)engines from 1984 to 1997 were leanburn units that was the design the engines have special swirl valves to increase fuel economy you'l notice the injectors on these engines are in the head rather than in other engines fitted lower down. you should have an "economy" light on the dash that tells you when the unit is "leanburning" but htis may not have been fitted on all models, sometimes the bulb is blown and needs replacing, check it out theres only 4 screws needed to take out the whole instrument panel in front of you, I had an 85 carina2 that was leanburn and both carina-e were as well
