Air Con Problems

Hi all,

I recently noticed the air con on my Aygo has stopped working, the light comes on when the AC button is pushed but nothing else,

I check once I got home and noticed the fan doesn't come on,

Fuse is ok so Im thinking it might just be a lose connection somewhere.

Could someone point out the location of the aircon pump so i can see if there is anything obvious before I end up just paying over the odds for a garage to fix.

many thanks

It might also be the fact that the gas has all leaked out.

The pump is easy to locate, just look for the alloy aircon pipes going to it. if the fuse is ok as you say it might need connecting up to an aircon machine to see if there is any pressure in the system, no pressure means no gas in which case leak detection is required.

I work in an indipendant garage and i am a licenced aircon technician so please feel free to ask more questions and i will help in any way i can.

either leak or connection isssue.

the fan receives signal from pressure sensor mounted on the compressor suction line and if freon gas pressure is more than adjusted on the switch -- that pass 12V signal to the fan to work and cool freon gas inside of A/C radiator converting it into liquid before thermo expansion valve.

now a simple issue -- either fan does not have 12V signal or it has issue with fuse/el contact.

cheers guys, I did think it was a connection issue as Id thought the fan would still work if gas had leaked but maybe not now, Ill get out and see if anything looks obvious.

Thanks again

By 'fan' are we talking about the 4-speed 'heater' fan operated from the centre console or is there a different fan associated just with the air con?

Am I right in thinking that it's advisable to operate the air con at least once a month to avoid certain problems? I'm sure I read that somewhere, sometime...?

To clarify - this is the fan controlled by the 'Fan Speed Control Switch' on the centre console?
